Is anyone else having major issues getting anywhere on LJ? I'm trying to access my resource post on my journal and I keep getting a half loaded page or this error [Error: Database handle unavailable (user: jadeleopard; cluster: 2) at /home/lj/cgi-bin/LJ/Subscription.pm line 76 @ sf-lj-web016].

Dammit LJ, you're making GJ and IJ look better all the time.

Edit: When I went to post I got a "Error updating journal: Client error: This journal is temporarily in read-only mode. Try again in a couple minutes." message.

Urg...

Righto, so my photobucket expired on the 28th of last month but for some reason the auto renew wasn't set to kick in till the 31st. No big whoop, I'm not going to run out of bandwidth in 3 days, right?

Well, it's the 3rd and they still haven't upgraded me to paid. I sent off an email to the holy 'contact us' button, but I'm still waiting on their reply.

The most annoying thing is the links they provide at the bottom of the images all advertise photobucket for free accounts.

Just doing my part

LJ has started permanent suspensions for fan art featuring 'minors in sexual situations'. You can read about it over here at

innocence_jihad a community created back when those Warriors for Innocence nutjobs were targeting LJ.

The part that bothers me is that they've removed the strikethrough on the suspended accounts. Now names show up like jadeleopard instead of ~~jadeleopard~~. It's like they are trying to hide the suspensions. Oh, yeah. The suspensions are permanent and you have no way to appeal the process.

Fuck LJ.

Wow, I can cook!

Right, so. Apparently this no smoking thing (81 weeks free!) has rubbed off in other areas. I've started eating healthier and trying to get rid of the bad stuff. So far I've gone from a 12pack of Mt. Dew a day, to Lipton Peach Iced Tea and water only. Still can't go without the tea and be headache free, but it's a major improvement.

I've also been using my new kitchen to cook dinner every night. I love allrecipes.com. They have a recipe box, and it'll compile a shopping list for you. The shopping list lets you add and change the items really easily too.

I've apparently become domestic. My husband likes to tease me, because even a year ago I wouldn't have believed I would whip up a batch of muffins* so CB could grab one for breakfast on his way to work. I mean 'whip up a batch'? I barely knew how to make hard boiled eggs a year ago.

The only negative I can see is that I've gained about 30lbs since I quite smoking. Some from the quitting and some from the full meals. I need to go buy some new pants. Most of the pants that still fit are from my baggy grunge high school days and are almost 8 years old at this point.

*I used this recipe and added 2 smallish bananas mashed, and a 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips. They are so yummy. I'm going to try blueberry next.

Rambo 4 trailer... Just a warning for the squeamish, People and body parts go squish (literally, you hear squishing noises) during the second half.

The first half of the trailer kinda reminds me a typical sci-fi original jungle monster movie. However, according to my husband, it appears to have more plot then the first 3 combined.

fireflyhush has a nifty theme challenge this week. "Enter the Buffyverse". Basically icon a Firefly actor playing a Buffy/Angel role. Well, this reminded me that I haven't seen Buffy or Angel in a long time. So I go and grab my TV boxset binder, pull out Buffy season 1 disc 1 and pop it in the computer.

...

It's a region 4 PAL disc. I can't play it. *headdesk* I bought it from a coworker back before it was released in the States since I had a region free, macro hacked DVD player. Well, we don't have that player anymore.

I shouldn't have to wait for a download of something I already own. :(

It's tooooooooo hot! I hate it when the weather get all sticky and hot and can't it be winter again? Also, my Vista weather gadget promised me wrath of god thunderstorms. There's hardly a cloud in sight.

Anyway. I watched Saw II and III last night. I'm impressed. They managed to create a well thought out suspenseful plot that carried itself through 3 movies. I thought I had my needle phobia under control though... guess not, I got up and ran from the room during that little bit.

My muse is still AWOL. I started making my firefly_hush entries last night and Vista decided to update and restart. I hadn't saved any of them *wangsty flail* I hope some creativity comes back before the deadline.

I've been thinking about unrealized realities (Farscape's version of Slider's parallel universe theory) and have decided that Cleopatra 2525 is an unrealized reality of Firefly.

What if it was giant robots taking over the earth that prompted mankind to leave, and what if instead of fleeing into space when the giant machines took over the planet Zoe's ancestors stayed behind. What if Hel was the unrealized reality version of Zoe?

And because I know that most, if not all, of my flist has no idea what Cleopatra 2525 is. I uploaded the opening credits to photobucket vid. It's a minute long and truly displays the pure cheese that the show was, oh but so fun to watch.

It's not fair. 10 years from now people will be able to find just about any promo pic for... lets say Firefly without too much hassle. So why can't I find any promo pics from Farscape? or Cleopatra 2525? Also, I do believe my muse has completely disappeared on me. I mean Farscape crossover isn't that weird of a icon prompt. Why can't I think of anything?

Any of you guys know how I can view these videos? They're cooking how-to vids from Kraft. All I get is a black screen, and I can't find any mention of what codecs are needed to view them on the site.

Plus the Vid-Downloader that I use to save youtube vids is down right now, so I don't even know if that'll work.

: This is from the season 1 commercial break of Ranma 1/2. He's dodging a few attacks from is fiance and accidentally lands on her 'pet pig' P-chan, who is in reality his rival Ryoga (my favorite character) in his pig form. I just love this icon soo much because it just seems to really sum up the Ranma/Ryoga ship (friend or relation, whatever).

: Nothing makes everthing better like a demented villian dressed like a clown. Seriously, he's the only villian that makes wearing clown makeup seem perfectly normal. Not even the Joker can do that for me.

: This is Shampoo, also from Ranma 1/2. She is Ranma's 2nd (?) fiance. This is her in her cute little house cat form which adds much hilarity since Ranma is deathly afraid of all cats since his Father tried the forbidden Nekoken training on him (covering him in sausage then dropping him into a pit of starving cats)... Okay it's funny on the show, not so much when explaining. Shampoo is my second favorite character in the entire series. 'Obstacle is for killing' is her motto and she like to ride her bicycle over people in her way.
